WhatsApp fingerprint lock feature soon available on Android. WhatsApp announced Thursday the launch of Android’s fingerprint lock sensor in its blog. The change finally brings biometric authentication to the Android app from the Facebook-owned company, with iPhone users enjoying both Touch ID (fingerprint recognition) and Face ID (facial recognition) since February of this year.

Android users can now automatically lock the app and unlock its fingerprint only. Users can also choose how long the app will automatically lock in after 1 minute and after 30 minutes, from immediately after closing.

Users will also be able to choose if the content of their messages, including the message recipient, will be included in notifications. When the phone is closed, you will still be able to answer calls.
