Skype update provides message bookmarks, split window, previews of media

Skype update provides message bookmarks, split window, previews of media. Skype has been updated with a variety of new features on desktop and mobile, the most significant improvements involving messaging. Starting now, users of Skype can bookmark any Skype message on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, and iOS, making it easier to find in the future. The updated software now also supports saving drafts of messages, splitting windows on the desktop, and more.

The Skype update provides a number of desktop and mobile messaging enhancements. Apart from the ability to bookmark a message that involves either right-clicking or long-pressing, users can now preview files and media before sending them in a message.

The preview appears in the message panel, adding an additional protection layer against sending the wrong item accidentally. Users can remove content and, where necessary, add new files from the same panel. The software now also presents batch content with a new design in the messaging panel, combining everything into a clean album that can be opened and browsed.

Skype will now also save typed messages as drafts as mentioned, meaning whatever you type — but don’t send — waits for you the next time you open the application. This is similar to the drafts saved offered by a number of other text and messaging apps; users can tell a draft from other content via the[ draft] tag included.

Those updates came on all platforms, but the final new feature — split-window — only came in the app’s desktop versions. Users can display contacts in one window and conversations in other separate windows with the split window, which was first introduced earlier this year.
