Samsung sends out a patch that improves Galaxy S10 performance

Samsung sends out a patch that improves Galaxy S10 performance – Owners of the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+ may have recently noticed an improvement on both devices ‘ in-display fingerprint scanners. Reddit posters recently shared information on an update of 6.9 MB sent to both models. The update is a security patch for biometrics designed to improve the performance of the two handsets’ in-display ultrasonic fingerprint scanner used.

Some of those who have installed the update claim the fingerprint scanner now works to unlock their phone “instantly.” With the update, Samsung did not include a changelog, so we don’t really know how to improve the fingerprint scanner. Those who notice a difference say after the update was installed, they didn’t have to re-scan their fingers.
However, you may want to consider rescanning your fingers if you load the update and don’t notice a change. The Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 + both use a fingerprint reader in the ultrasonic display. This is a technology that is more accurate and faster than most devices ‘ capacitive readers.

Ultrasonic technology uses sound to create a 3D map of the fingerprints of a user. As we pointed out last week, either phone may still be tricked into unlocking the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10+. The capacitive readers feature circuits capturing unique fingerprint information from a user.

Remember this is not an update to the system. Rather, it is an update to the Galaxy Store fingerprint module. There’s no way to trigger it, so it’s just patience. The notification will eventually arrive to let you know the update is ready for installation.
