AirPower was designed to charge Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods at once, but there were persistent rumours of difficulty after Apple announced the device in 2017 and no product ever was launched.

“We concluded that AirPower will not achieve our high standards after a lot of effort and we cancelled the project. We apologize to those clients who looked forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and committed to pushing forward the wireless experience,” said Dan Riccio, Senior Hardware Engineering Vice President of Apple in a statement given to TechCrunch.

It’s a big blow to Apple that usually doesn’t cancel out unreleased products. At the launch of the iPhone X in September 2017, the company first announced the product. It was expected in 2018 to debut.
