Apple cancels its AirPower wireless charger – There is some bad news for Apple fans waiting for 18 months to find out when they could buy a wireless charger from AirPower. TechCrunch reported that Apple has canceled its wireless charger from AirPower, citing difficulties in achieving the “high standards” of the company for the product.
AirPower was designed to charge Apple Watch, iPhone, and AirPods at once, but there were persistent rumors of difficulty after Apple announced the device in 2017 and no product ever was launched.
“We concluded that AirPower will not achieve our high standards after a lot of effort and we canceled the project. We apologize to those clients who looked forward to this launch. We continue to believe that the future is wireless and committed to pushing forward the wireless experience,” said Dan Riccio, Senior Hardware Engineering Vice President of Apple in a statement given to TechCrunch.
It’s a big blow to Apple that usually doesn’t cancel out unreleased products. At the launch of the iPhone X in September 2017, the company first announced the product. It was expected in 2018 to debut.
